Commitment to Accessibility

MAPORO is committed to making its online shop accessible in accordance with the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) and EU Directive 2019/882 (on accessibility requirements for products and services).

We aim to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as well as the German Accessible Information Technology Regulation (BITV 2.0).

Measures Taken

• Semantic HTML with correct heading hierarchy and ARIA attributes
• Keyboard navigation for all interactive elements
• Colour contrast meeting WCAG AA requirements (minimum 4.5:1 ratio for body text)
• Responsive design for all screen sizes and devices
• Form inputs with descriptive labels
• Self-hosted fonts with font-display: swap to prevent loading delays
• Minimum 16px font size on mobile (prevents automatic zoom on iOS)

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. The following limitations are known:

• Map editor: The interactive map preview (Mapbox GL) has limited screen reader support. Map areas can be selected via the location search text field.
• Star map editor: The sky chart view is not fully keyboard-navigable. Date and location can be entered via text fields.
• Poster preview: The canvas-based poster preview may not provide sufficient alternative text. Configuration options are accessible via labelled form controls.
• PDF documents: Downloadable files (e.g. renderings) may not fully comply with the PDF/UA standard.
