Measure the clear wall, not just the sofa
Note the sofa width and the free wall area above it. Allow for windows, shelves, lamps and the height of the backrest. A frame also needs space: the poster size describes the printed area, not necessarily the outside dimensions of a framed print.
For example, a 50 cm wide poster takes up less than a third of the width of a 180 cm sofa. That is a size comparison, not a decorating rule. Try the outline on your own wall to decide whether you like the proportion.
Try two sizes with paper templates
Cut paper to the dimensions you are considering, or mark the outlines with suitable removable decorator’s tape. Test a discreet spot first to check that the wall finish tolerates the tape.
Compare 30 × 40 cm with 50 × 70 cm, for example. Look from your usual seat and from the room entrance. If you want several prints, mark every outline and the gaps between them at the same time.
Think about the design and finish
A detailed map can be easier to read in a larger format. A short coordinates design contains less visual information. Check names and small text in the editor preview as well as comparing the overall area.
Paper prints are available in the listed standard formats, with optional frames. Canvas is not available in DIN A3 and does not use the optional paper-print frames. Choose the final options on the product itself.
